SEO Haiku for January 16, 2006

As we alluded to earlier, we're ready to roll out our new SEO/SEM information delivery system. What's behind the curtain?

SEO Haiku.

Who has precious minutes to waste reading blog after blog? Why download a podcast when all you need to know is contained up in 17 little syllables?

Remember that the haiku form of Japanese poetry offers us insight into the world in shades of gray. Where you seek answers you may find only questions. It requires as much as it gives.

But it's short, so what the hell?

With that in mind, we are pleased to offer...

SEO Haiku for January 16, 2006

Some clarification: Todd posted at TW about a contest, which is a wonderful idea, but this was not the original intent. There is no contest.

Haiku is simply the new content format for SEM|ANTICS. While we read, enjoy, and appreciate your contributions, we haven't jacked any thread, and we haven't tried to steal any thunder from SEO Chat or SEO Refugee. We simply decided to post our daily SEO summaries in haiku format to try to shift some focus to the "art" portion of "black art."

With poetic forms.

My haiku sympathies must remain with the refugees, however. Perhaps I will do you a villanelle this evening and post it tomorrow.

that's intentional; you are welcome to look at our stats. hiding web stats in a humor blog is vain and self-important, don't you think?

didn't steal your idea

My bad toddie...had never seen that before (great idea though), and there is no contest...just havin' fun.

so what's the conversion rate for visitors brought over by nonsense terms?

Converion rate is about 1% but you have to consider that the impressions are mostly BS, not real searches.

I'm shocked people click on "Makes It's Own Gravy" and even more amusing people click "You Have No Life".

Very enlightening to say the least.

We hunt for algorithms, strategies.
We scan for rhythms, patterns, we make notes.
We see the woods and miss the single trees

Links, anchor text, Page Rank, directories:
Let x equal the weight that these denote.
We hunt for algorithms, strategies.

Some ranking pages' content parodies
The naturalistic text that snippets quote.
We see the wood and miss the single trees.

Doorway pages, short-term remedies
For sites whose ranking chances seem remote.
We hunt for algorithms, strategies.

No off-page tricks and tactics, none of these
Add any value to a site of note.
We see the wood and miss the single trees.

Day after day we churn out effigies
Of some purported model of repute.
We hunt for algorithms, strategies.
We see the wood and miss the single trees.

Damn fine villanelle, Rankenstein.

Personally, given the firestorm of protest about haiku, we're starting to lean toward sonnets, but we just need to narrow it down to Shakespearean vs. Petrarchan. Tough call there.

But fine work indeed. Kudos.
